Well if all I have to this day is a microkorg. What am I need to start recording music and I need a mixer. Any recomendation on brands? Thank you for your help

So you microkorg and one (I assume) of a computer. You only need a few things more. First, you'll need some kind of program registration, such as Sony Acid, Cool Edit Pro, or Magix Music Maker. My personal recommendation is Magix (current version is 15). It has everything you need in a program to record and edit, and easy to use. There's even a video tutorial to get you started. It also has a VSTi some included (software synthesizers). You can control the VSTi, either by mouse or your microkorg via a USB to MIDI cable like this: = http://www.americanmusical.com/Item–i-SOU-USBMIDI10-LIST?SRC=D0403NX0HAMS0000&utm_source=nextag&utm_medium feed & You can find these cheaper at Radio Shack. to record the sounds of your microkorg, you'll also need a standard instrument cable adapter 1 / 4 "to 1 / 8" attached to one end (this will go into the line input of your sound card). This is essential because you can not record sounds via MIDI. If the only tool you use is your microkorg, you will not need a mixer. If you plan to use more than that (like other synths or guitar, microphone, etc.) and a mixer will be useful. Some good brands to consider are Alesis and Mackie. Naturally, There are plenty of other things you can get for recording, but the basic configuration, and it should work well.

There was a synthesizer that was semi-han demonstrated recently in blog BoingBoing and Jonathan Coulton was basically row of several buttons you can push to activate and then would move through and play different sounds. There were a couple of videos floating around as well.

You definitely need to check out this program: http://www.flstudio.com/ You'll have to buy a license, but it is probably the most versatile and easy to produce friendly music software pre-loaded sounds. There are a variety of instruments of syths birds chirping.
