Well, I am a high school youth and want to know the requirments General base necessary to become a music major. I have a solid backronf a theory of music, and I am very far from being able to read music by sight. I play the guitar but the lack kowing lot of jazz playing mostly blues and rock whee I'm going from here and what I do?

I just completed a Bachelor of Music in 2006, and I am currently a Masters (M. Mus. History of Music and the Italian lira) so my experience is fairly recent. I have seen many students start as music majors as freshmen (you have to start then because there are so many required courses), only to bail before their second year. The main problem was the difficulty with the theory music. At my school, classes were called "musicality" and included ear training (dictation: Can we hear a melody or 4-part harmony and write correctly in the written document? can hear a fan and say this? etc.), music theory, music theory Key including major and minor keys, chord progressions basic transportation, etc., and even run. So, my recommendation would be to do as much study and practice as possible in these areas. You also need to show mastery of his instrument and be able to read music. You'll need to audition. If want to study music, pop or jazz, be sure to find a college that teaches that. But not all. Berklee in the Massachusetts is an excellent non-traditional training, but they have yet to be completely based on theory. You're lucky I still have all this year over the past year to prepare.
